Welcome to the Fort William Table Tennis Club
Table Tennis is on as usual on all Mondays until the
(14th May) then the Show stoppers have the hall
The hot news off the press is;
John Grant has taken the number one spot for division 1.
John and Monte played the play off for the top spot in division 1 last Monday. Again this was another match we should have videoed. Just look at the scores!
It was a fantastic match to watch! in game 3 Monty was up 9 to 3 on John and finally did beat John 11 - 9, but what a game they had to play.
Game 1, 14 - 12 to Monte
Game 2, 11 - 9 to John
Game 3, 11 - 9 to Monte
Game 4, 14 - 12 to John
Game 5, 11 - 2 to John
Talk about tough games, they went to deuce on 2 of the games and then 11- 9 on 2 games!
Well done to both players.
Meanwhile we still have the 'Handicap' to look forward to. This was a roaring success last year when DJ got through to the final against Monte.
This week it's back to the finishing of the league matches.
I don't know what will happen about the get together night that was planned, as the golfers, runners and outdoor people have started taking advantage of the early good weather we are getting.
It would have been nice to see the season out with a get together for the presentations some food and a wee drink.
If you want to have a get together let us know ASAP?
Other than that, the most recent match that was played was
the Open Doubles Championship (16th Jan).
Partners were drawn from 4 pots from each division; doing it this way produced some interesting and exciting ties, we witnessed some great games from all players.
In a close and exciting final, Kenny Gillespie and Jim Hinchley emerged the winners over Neil Feggans and Deek Cameron 3 to 2.
Remember, new members are always welcome and all are free to participate as they wish with equal priority on our six Top Quality Tables.

As we all know we were using these tables for years.
The club decided to give them to the local schools rather than put them up for sale.
We were hoping when we gave the tables away that it may encourage the youngsters to participate in the sport.
We did put on some exhibitions to encourage the youngsters to have a go and we offered a free hour 6:30 to 7:30 each Monday to allow them to try it, get a little free tuition from some of the regular members.
